16th June, 1969 was a red letter day in the history of FCC Nirmala Province, Vijayawada. It was on this blessed day, 12 pioneer missionaries from Vimala Province, Kothamangalam, Kerala started their journey toward A.P., M. P states in the dioceses of Chanda, Raipur & Ujjain with all vigor and enthusiasm to proclaim the Good News among the poor. It was their deep faith and trust in God that gave them courage to take up this bold step. The Major superiors also had the foresight and missionary zeal to send these beloved daughters to the mission field with great love and generosity. The mission grew under the care of the concerned superiors and church authorities and raised to the status of a region on 12th March 1989.Thus Nirmala Region was established and Rev. Sr. Beatrice was appointed the first Regional Superior. The region was raised to a Vice-Province on 8th Feb. 1994with 147 members and 19 houses. Rev. Sr. Fatima was elected the first Provincial Superior. The Vice-Province was raised to the status of a province in the General Synaxis held on 4th Dec. 1997 and the declaration was done by Rev. Mother Marianna the then Superior General. Rev. Sr. Fatima was re-elected provincial Superior for a second term.
The third Provincial Synaxis held on 16th January, 2001 elected Rev. Sr. Caroline the Provincial Superior and in the 4th Provincial Synaxis held on 29th December, 2003 she was re-elected. The 5th Provincial Synaxis held on 3rd December, 2006 elected Rev. Sr. Beatrice the Provincial Superior and in the 6th Provincial Synaxis held on 20th December, 2009 elected Rev. Sr. Caroline once again. Rev. Sr. Betsy Adapur was elected the Provincial Superior in the 7th Provincial Synaxis held on 11th December, 2012.
The eighth Provincial Synaxis was held on 15th Dec.2015 Rev. Sr. Fatima was elected the Provincial Superior. Under the shepherding hands of Rev. Sr. Fatima & team, Nirmala Province is marching forward for spreading Gods Kingdom. At present the Province has 200 members and 33 houses. The patroness of the Province is Blessed Virgin Mary.
